Established in the hot summer of 1972, Popeye’s didn’t immediately catch the public eye. Quality was never the root of this issue, but rather the lack of variety that could retain the customers. To combat the issue head-on, the management decided to hire more culinary professionals and expand on it. Over the years they have added onto their menu to become inclusive of people suffering from various chronic health issues and their most recent addition was a well-received Allergy Menu.
Popeye’s biggest and most popular branch, their Lousiana Kitchen is also their flagship outlet and naturally has the widest array of delicacies available at any given moment. Alongside their staple Popeye’s Signature Fried Chicken, you also get to choose from a variety of fries with the Cajun fries being the most popular. They’ve also drifted away from the traditional chicken-based dishes and have ventured into seafood territory with the Popcorn Shrimp and Catfish based delicacies. The sides on offer to go with these dishes are limited to red beans and rice, Cajun fries, mashed potatoes with Cajun-style gravy, Cajun rice, macaroni & cheese, and coleslaw.
Popeye’s recently decided to give away all nutritional information on the ingredients being utilized in their products to make the customer-brand relationship more transparent. Along those lines, they also decided to introduce an allergy-free and dairy-free menu to widen their reach and cater to everybody, an act that won them more than just brownie points.

Under their main chicken courses, they offer Naked Tenders, Naked Chicken Wrap, Naked BBQ Chicken Po’ Boy, Get Up & Geaux Kids’ Meal. On the sides Baguette, Cajun Fries, Red Beans & Rice, Cajun Rice, Jalapenos, Cole Slaw are viable options. For breakfast, they offer Grits and Hashbrowns. They also offer dairy-free sauces such as Barbeque, Sweet Heat, Cocktail, Mardi Gras Mustard, Tartar, and Creamy Horseradish. Finally, for desserts, Apple Sauce and Sliced Pecan Pie are available.
They also have a gluten-free menu available, though fairly small now, it has been seeing its fair share of additions consistently. As of now, it consists of some of the side items and sauces mentioned above like the Coleslaw, Applesauce, Red Beans & Rice, Cajun Rice, and Jalapenos.
